p>Technoblade, a YouTube personality who built a following of millions with his humorous commentary on videos of himself playing Minecraft, has died, his father announced in a video posted on the account of his son.

p>More than 11 million subscribers made it a habit of watching screen recordings of Technoblade's Minecraft gameplay while he offered commentary on camera. p>His father, who is emotional throughout the video says the two of them talked for months about whether or not to create a final video. His father says that Alex wrote the letter and died just eight hours later.

p>The video concludes with a written note that is attributed to Alex's mother who's name is not revealed. She stated that Alex was not famous and self-deprecating despite his channel's growing popularity.

p>"From Technoblade's first days on the web, he was always strategizing ways to delight and reward his followers by giving away prizes online as well as encouraging good sportsmanship, and, most importantly sharing his Minecraft adventures to entertain and laugh," she wrote.

p>Alex's family was not able to be reached on Friday. Hypixel is a gaming company that collaborated with Technoblade, said the family requested that requests for comment not be passed on to them. Don Pireso, the company administrator, said in a tweet that "The video they shared contains all the information they're comfortable sharing at present."

p>Alex uploaded his August video on his YouTube channel, in which the first time he acknowledged his diagnosis of cancer. p>After experiencing severe discomfort in his arm, he said he was diagnosed. He initially dismissed it as a repetitive stress injury due to playing video games, however, after a few days of rest, he claimed that his shoulder "was swelling like crazy."

p>He also implored people to get the Covid-19 vaccine, stating that the treatment for cancer had weakened his immune system, which put him at greater risk of developing serious illness from the coronavirus.

p>"I'm going to go ahead and speak on behalf of all cancer patients when I say that it is extremely frustrating when hospitals are overwhelmed by patients dying of preventable illnesses," he said in the video. "I'm just saying that we should have priority for those hospital beds.

p>Technoblade's fans, friends, and followers on social media praised his wit and humor, as well as his role as an example for Minecraft players.
