p>Xbox has partnered with preservation society National Trust (opens in new tab) and a few British creatives to make an Minecraft model of Corfe Castle. This impressive, intricate model was commissioned by Xbox UK in the National Trust's festival archaeology festival. It encourages users to create their own ruin with the help of foundations.

p>Grian, a YouTube video maker, made this first build. You can watch his work in the video below as well as on YouTube. (opens in a new tab) Based on historic photos and consulting an expert, then mixing Minecraft build expertise with a bit of artistic license, Grian creates a build that focuses on the most interesting aspects of Corfe Castle, such as its historic octagonal tower and miniature palace, or "Gloriette." As I understand it is similar to the medieval kingly version of the Victorian folly.

p>"Grian has done a brilliant job of restoring Corfe Castle to its former glory. He not only managed to create an exact replica of the different styles that were used within the castle grounds but he also combined it with his own ideas. We cannot wait to see more inspirational designs created by young minds," said Martin Papworth, an archaeologist at the National Trust.

p>You can download Corfe's ruins yourself by checking out the Minecraft server corfe.ruinsreimagined.com. The ruins can be downloaded as a package for Minecraft: Education Edition to be used in classrooms. Microsoft's website contains more information. (opens in new tab)
