p>

Building the (Minecraft) lost city of Babylon

p>

p>Everyday, I hear of the incredible work being done by kids from all over the world, as they become knowledge-able and knowledgeable about their gaming activities. Many kids, supported by experienced elders (parents and peers) are participating in this amazing platform. Teachers are also helping their students to do amazing things.

/p>

p>Take a look at this stunning model in Minecraft - Babylon in a brand new world of our kids futures. Amazing is not only referring to building in a gaming environment. I mean literacy and communication digital citizenship, storytelling, as well as creativity and global cultures. It requires effort on the part of adults to support students in this manner.

/p>

p>Minecraft in education is a growing trend. Students are taking to the platform to incorporate Minecraft into their school's learning culture. To be honest - Minecraft is also turning into a minefield of its very own in the 'grown-up world' (consultant warning) - which is why it is important to connect with quality users with an experience that is grounded in the best practices in Minecraft rather than with consultants.

/p>

p>

Project Mist
Project Mist Project Mist, run by Donelle Batty is one of my favourite Australian leaders - doing with her kids daily that we would love for all our kids. Donelle has been running Project M.I.S.T (Minecraft In School Transforming education) for the last few years. Her students have very powerful learning experiences. GMods experience in Minecraft says it all!

p>

p>This year's Minecraft experience was awe-inspiring. The collaboration, the effort and the creativity I witnessed were truly remarkable. https://thinkofdeath.co.uk/ In the class, I had the opportunity to interact with children who have the same interests I have, building friendships throughout the year. The best part was working together. When there were large crowds and deaths we hid in shelters and shared our tools. It was always a pleasure help someone build or create something. I've also learned about the importance of my appearance on the internet and how I present myself to people on the web. Presentation is important and your first impression of you is everything. If you are acting like a tool on the internet people will see you once and think: "Wow, that person appears rude and inconsiderate" And that would be the last time they visit your site/sever/ profile.

/p>

p>Recently I followed a tweet to read what Donelle wrote about the 2014 launch of #ProjectMIST.

/p>

p>2014 #ProjectMIST will soon begin. It takes a dedicated community! http://t.co/HwGMrUlHI5 #minecraft @natbott42

p>- Donelle Batty (@dbatty1) March 21, 2014

/p>

p>She reminded us all that Minecraft is a game that is collaborative, as is the various stages of learning required to gain Minecraft experience. Donelle is a leader in the world and will be traveling to Tasmania as an Hardie Fellow (Info re Hardie Fellowship recipients 2013-14).

/p>

p>Donelle also brought back Jo Kay's incredible work, who I have worked closely with throughout the years on a variety of projects. Jo currently assists and develops our work in the Master of Education, Knowledge Networks and Digital Innovation degree here at CSU. We don't utilize the standard LMS but have designed our own system to support the degree.

/p>

p>The same way Donelle clarifies:

/p>

p>ProjectMIST is very fortunate to have a person who has been there for us since the beginning . She is always there even at 12:01 am. At this time of the day, I am in bed asleep and my computer is sleeping too, however Jo Kay is wide awake helping the students when I am unable to. Her help is greatly appreciated by the students and they show this by building replicas of her avatars on their own servers. One young man even did this the other night , when she helped him out after the server locked him out. his server. The student was accepted to the Massively @ Jokaydia Minecraft Guild. He is excited to build, learn and play with other players from all over the world.

/p>

p>If you're an educator, a parent, or just someone who wants to give children an opportunity to play Minecraft I suggest you visit Massively @ Jokaydia.

/p>

p>The Massively @ jokaydia Guild Website - a community supported by jokaydia.com offers children and their parents with a space to learn, collaborate and play!

/p>

p>The project is for youngsters aged 4-16 who are interested in digital media skills, creativity, and social skills online. We currently use the video game Minecraft to provide a secure, whitelisted server and an array of activities that allow kids to choose their own fun learning pathways and adventures.

/p>

p>This is the best thing you can do! Babylon was a creation by just one of those students!

/p>

p>Donelle can be found on Twitter @dbatty1 or Jo @JoKay?. You can also find student Nat in the TedEX video below, which is @natbott42.
