p>Jason Momoa is in final negotiations to appear in a Warner Bros. live-action Minecraft film, the studio confirmed Tuesday.

p>Warner Bros. first revealed that they had a Minecraft film was in development eight years ago. The originally planned release date for Minecraft was March 4, 2022. However, the date was pushed back indefinitely because of the pandemic. It has not been updated since then.

p>Minecraft, one of the top-selling games of all time, lets players explore 3D worlds where they can make items, extract materials and construct structures. The live-action film will join many video games-based films, such as Uncharted, Sonic the Hedgehog (and its sequel), and 2021's Mortal Kombat.

p>The film's producers include Lydia Winters and Vu Bui of Minecraft developer Mojang Studios. Roy Lee and Mary Parent are also producing. Jill Messick, who was an executive producer on the film prior to her death in 2018, will be given a posthumous credit for her work. The film's executive producers include Cale Boyter, Jon Spaihts and Jon Berg.
