p>The Beano's Dennis, Gnasher and Walter join Minecraft By Emily Thomas Newsbeat reporter

/p>

p>Minecraft players must keep an eye out for "softy" Walter and his stinky pants.

/p>

p>Walter, Dennis the Menace and his dog Gnasher from The Beano, can now be added to PC versions of the game.

/p>

p>Gnasher can be made as a sausage by players, and all of Dennis' pranks, such as catapults and stink bombs can be employed.

/p>

p>It's part of the Beano's bigger plans to expand into digital media and its model has emerged from a collaboration between the show and Frima Studios, a Canadian multiplatform game developer.

/p>

p>Mark Cotton, who is the Beano's chief digital officer, said to Newsbeat: "If you talk to any 7-11-year-old child, Minecraft is pretty much their most fervent love and passion."

/p>

p>Mark says that the game is an "extension" of the comic and a way to make The Beano "a more overall experience" for kids.

/p>

p>"Roughly 32,000 comics are sold every week of the Beano - so still an extremely healthy amount," he says.

/p>

p>But it's still far less than the two million magazines sold at the height of the magazine's popularity. https://lionsroar.name/ </p>

p>"We are well aware that kids today have a passion for digital," Mark says. Mark.

/p>

p>"We must create The Beano a 360 brand which means that Dennis and Gnasher are everywhere the children are, instead of expecting them to visit our store.

/p>

p>"So we're working to complete a series of videos over the coming three to six months."

/p>

p>There are puzzle apps, interactive comics, and an "action 3-D game for children".

/p>

p>DC Thompson, The Beano's publisher, has already expanded the brand to include a TV show and a photo-sharing app and YouTube channel.

/p>

p>Grand Theft Auto?

/p>

p>The comic's been around since 1938 and has a lot of adult fans. The Beano characters could also make an appearances in adult games, like Dennis the Menace in Grand Theft Auto.

/p>

p>"No. That's not something we'd focus on at the moment," says Mark.

/p>

p>"We're focusing on the 7 to 11-year-old digital product - for the moment, digital is about truly engaging with kids and knowing their interests."

/p>

p>They've been working with a group of 10 Minecraft and Beano fans aged 7-11 during the development process.

/p>

p>Minnie the Minx

/p>

p>"We mostly asked children"If you were to put Beano into Minecraft What do you think?'

/p>

p>"This was their first step towards thinking about what they wanted. Their imaginations can go way beyond what we can do at the moment.

/p>

p>"But they wanted pranks, they wanted Walter they wanted Gnasher They wanted to dress up as Dennis and that's the thing we've given them.

/p>

p>"We'll continue to communicate with them. We'd like to extend this and to build Beanotown and let children be creative.

/p>

p>"Minecraft is so beloved because it gives power to children. We can't force the children to do something, and they would reject it.

/p>

p>Will any other characters get a look in?

/p>

p>Mark says, "We certainly want to extend it."

/p>

p>"The obvious character and the one the kids have been looking for is Minnie the Minx so that's what we'd likely take a look at next."
