p>Mojang's breakout smash Minecraft was ranked second in a Google-issued list of the most popular YouTube search terms of 2014. The game ranked right just behind "music" in terms of frequency of searches.

p>According to Google, the word "Minecraft" was the most frequently searched on YouTube in 2014 than "movies." https://editum.org/ Gaming personality PewDiePie? was also among YouTube's top searches in 2014, lagging queries for Disney's Frozen and for artists Drake and Beyonce.

p>Google reports that users are more likely to search for gaming-related content, and that engagement is increasing even though a majority of those surveyed don't identify themselves as gamers. YouTube videos in the "Gamingcategory were listed in the Top 10 Trending List of Google Search on 25 different days in October 2014.

p>"A Google Consumer Survey fielded in October 2014 among those who reported watching gaming videos on YouTube found that only a small portion of this group (37%) considers themselves 'gamers"" the report says. "When asked about the reasons they watch gaming videos, people mentioned the entertainment aspect and also as learning new strategies or tips.

p>The report continues: "We also wanted to learn why people are drawn to videos from creators like PewDiePie? and SkyDoesMinecraft?. Many of them replied"because they're hilarious! Some even said that these videos were like stand-up comedy. A young gaming creator sums the interest in the video with the following analogy: "You don't need to play soccer in order to enjoy it on television.'"
