p>Microsoft Minecraft's owner is investigating reports that the Turkish government is planning to ban the game. The BBC is aware.

/p>

p>According local media, a study conducted by the Turkish Family and Social Policies Ministry found that the game encouraged violence.

/p>

p>There were conflicting reports on what steps the government was planning to take as a result.

/p>

p>Some have suggested that it will request a court to ban the game, others that it would ask Microsoft to edit it.

/p>

p>According to the Haberturk newspaper, the ministry's report said: "Although the game can be seen as a way of encouraging imagination in children through letting them build bridges, farms, and houses mobs [hostile creatures] must be killed in order to defend these structures. The game is built on violence.

p>'Social isolation'

/p>

p>The report also said that children might confuse Minecraft with reality and believe that torturing animals isn't causing any pain, according to the newspaper.

/p>

p>The report said it was based on the personal experience of a nine-year-old , and suggested that playing Minecraft could cause "social isolation".

/p>

p>Haberturk said that the department's legal affairs division of the ministry had been instructed to take the first steps to ban Minecraft.

/p>

p>But, according to Fatih Oke, a spokesman for the Turkish Embassy in Washington DC, a ban was "out of the possibility".

/p>

p>Mr. Oke said to Christian Science Monitor: "There will be no ban.

/p>

p>"The game is not being banned and will not be banned.

/p>

p>The Family and Social Policy Ministry does not have this kind of authority to ban any product.

/p>

p>"I believe that this is what's been reported in the Turkish media however, it is not true.

/p>

p>"The ministry is only able to deal on complaints.

/p>

p>"In this case I have been told that there were numerous complaints from parents about Minecraft and its impact on children.

/p>

p>"The mission of this ministry is to increase awareness."

/p>

p>The government is not able to stop the game on its own however, it can convince the court.

/p>

p>Although Turkey isn't known for banning gaming on computers, there have been some websites shut down in recent times.

/p>

p>Last year, access to both Twitter and YouTube was temporarily blocked as well as Facebook was required to block certain pages believed to insult the Prophet Muhammad in January of this year.

/p>

p>'Creative freedom'

/p>

p>A spokesperson for Mojang which produces Minecraft under the Microsoft umbrella, after the latter bought the game for $2.5bn (PS1.68bn) in September 2014, would not comment directly on the reports.

/p>

p>He said that "Minecraft is enjoyed in many ways by a variety of players."

/p>

p>"Many are enthralled by the freedom of creativity that's presented by Minecraft and its tools, but some are more interested by the possibility of exploring an unexplored landscape and to embark on thrilling adventures with their friends. https://photography-blogs.co.uk/ </p>

p>"We encourage players and urge them to work together to reach their goals, regardless of whether they are building or exploring or taking a trip.

/p>

p>"The Minecraft world can be dangerous: it's home to terrifying, genderless monsters who are out at the night.

/p>

p>"It could be necessary to defend yourself against them to ensure that you're able to survive.

/p>

p>"If people find this type of fantasy conflict disturbing, we encourage them to use Creative Mode or to allow the Peaceful setting to be used.

/p>

p>"Both of these options will prevent monsters from appearing in the world."
