p>Tate Gallery teams up with Minecraft By Dougal Shaw Technology reporter

/p>

p>The Tate Gallery is going to display some of its most famous works in 3D form, inside the virtual world of the computer game Minecraft. Is this a good method to appreciate art?

/p>

p>Have you ever thought about stepping into an art piece and doing some exploration?

/p>

p>The Tate invites visitors to climb up its art and browse. https://squareblogs.net/sailkite2/get-unlimited-minecraft-gift-cards-for-free

p>There will be no security guards on watch.

/p>

p>The first painting to undergo this digital, 3D transformation was Andre Derain's 1906 painting The Pool of London and Christopher Nevinson∏s depiction of New York City, Soul of the Soulless City (1920).

/p>

p>Jane Burton, Tate Media's Creative Director, explains that visitors will be able to see a white cube that represents the Tate Gallery.

/p>

p>"You enter the door with the painting in your palm.

/p>

p>"What you can do now is walk up to the painting and plunge into it. This is where your adventure begins."

/p>

p>Enter the art

/p>

p>Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with the painting's world.

/p>

p>To see Nevinson's cityscape from the train, ride it. Stop for a bite to eat with builders as they take a break from building towers.

/p>

p>Visitors should be cautious of pirates on the Thames while visiting Derain's photograph. They may also play with explosive paint pigments.

/p>

p>"You explore activities and challenges that are related to the themes of the artwork.

/p>

p>Jane Burton, whose children introduced her to the power and potential of Minecraft, says, "It's art history adventure,"

/p>

p>The idea of exhibiting in Minecraft originated from the artist Adam Clarke, who is an established creator in the Minecraft community. http://gamesauthority.com/members/animecancer1/activity/19423/

p>He was the one who suggested the idea of Tate's IK Prize. This prize is awarded to an idea that makes use of digital technology to encourage people in the arts.

/p>

p>When the concept finally was realized, Tate enlisted the skills of other famous Minecraft builders such as Dragnoz, Kupo, Featherblade and Tewkesape to create the worlds that were influenced by the famous photos.

/p>

p>But not everyone is convinced.

/p>

p>Perspective

/p>

p>These Minecraft creations will give new, younger audiences a familiarity with artworks, so that when they view the originals in a gallery it's as "seeing an old friend" According to Times art critic Rachel Campbell-Johnston.

/p>

p>That feeling of recognition, "like seeing a celebrity" is a powerful way to aid art appreciation, and to inspire audiences.

/p>

p>She continues, "But ironically the Minecraft games themselves offer a flatter experience."

/p>

p>"It is more of an entertainment experience rather than an imaginative relationship with the painting, as [Minecrafts's] 3D mapping replaces the painting's illusionistic surfaces, and does the work for you."

/p>

p>Digital opening

/p>

p>The two works by Derain and Nevinson will be available to download on Monday.

/p>

p>Players pay a fee to join the Minecraft community, but the maps that are available for download of Tate's images are free.

/p>

p>With six more 3D masterpieces in the pipeline viewers will be keeping an eye to see how big the queues are on Monday when Tate's Minecraft exhibition opens its digital doors.
