p>Xbox has joined forces with preservation society National Trust (opens in new tab) as well as a group of British creatives to make an Minecraft model of Corfe Castle. This impressive, complex model was funded by Xbox UK in the National Trust's festival archaeology. It encourages users to create their own ruin using the foundations.

/p>

p>To that end, this first build was made by an YouTube video maker named Grian who's work is featured in the video above and also on YouTube. (opens in an entirely new tab) Grian created a build that highlights the castle's most striking features, such as its historic octagonal tower, miniature palace, and "Gloriette". Which, as I understand is a bit like the medieval kingly version of the Victorian folly.

/p>

p>"Grian has done an incredible job of restoring Corfe Castle to its former splendor. He not only recreated the old styles of the castle's grounds precisely, but also incorporated his own imagination. https://p2psys.com/ Martin Papworth, an archaeologist with the National Trust, said that we are eager to see more creative designs by more young minds."

p>You can download Corfe's ruins yourself by checking out the Minecraft server corfe.ruinsreimagined.com. The ruins can also be downloaded as a package for Minecraft: Education Edition to be used in classrooms. Learn more about the project on Microsoft's site. (opens in an entirely new tab)
