Stereotyping can have many negative effects.

It can lead to low self-esteem, poor decisions-making abilities, and eventually mental health issues. This could lead to self-stereotyping which is when individuals begin to behave in a certain way to feel as if they belong.

The University of California Los Angeles College of Social Sciences published an article titled Holywood Diversity in February 2020. The report examined the relationship between diversity and Hollywood's baseline.

It analyzed the top-ranking films at the box office between the years 2018 and 2019. It looked at the level of participation of women and other people of color both the front and behind of the camera.

It also reported positive news that females had made significant advances in the film industry.

However, certain laws in the US excluded black women from the mainstream.

Women of color have to exert twice as much effort to be promoted to higher positions at work than their white counterparts. They also must deal with the effects of gender bias and microaggressions.
