In his first video, Dream "triggers" viewers by playing the game as bad as possible. He does this by putting blocks on the top, killing sheep to get their wool and eating rotten flesh and even placing blocks on the top.

Felix Kjellberg, known online as the massively popular PewDiePie? was playing "Minecraft" for his huge audience of more than 100 million followers at this point. The video garnered 200,000 views within two days. He then made three videos that would garner over two million views each. The star of his career was born when Dream had 54,000 subscribers at the time of the end of July.

Dream created a variety of videos that capitalized on the current trend of "___ but it changes each time." His "Minecraft Speedrunner vs." series, in which Dream would choose to finish the game while certain NPCs (also known as non-player characters), chased after his pursuit, or set goals that had to be completed, were massively popular. Dream would also begin working with GeorgeNotFound? who was his friend and later a member on Dream's roleplaying site that he began in May of 2020.

Geosquare and his co-workers Minecraft moderators had examined the livestreams and concluded that Dream had recorded events that were likely to have occurred without the assistance of mods or cheats.
