p>Adults and children alike aren't just playing Minecraft in their millions: they're watching YouTube videos created using Minecraft - and those videos are getting billions of views.

p>Now , the online video firm Octoly has published a report aiming to quantify that the number of times, claiming that as of June 2014, Minecraft videos had been watched 30.8 billion times, with only 183 million views coming from the channel of Mojang the game's publisher.

p>This is almost three times more views for Grand Theft Auto videos. Octoly estimates that Grand Theft Auto was the second most-watched gaming brand on YouTube with more than 12 billion views. p>The company claims that since June, Minecraft videos have been watched another 16 billion times which brings the total to 47 billion views. Octoly has explained that Octoly360 discovered 81,000 YouTube creators talking about Minecraft in June. "Today there are 147,000 creator channels that have Minecraft videos, nearly double."

p>Anyone who has been watching Minecraft and/or the evolution YouTube over the past few years will not be shocked to find Minecraft so far ahead of its competitors.

p>In a chart of the top 100 YouTube channels in September 2014, which was published by industry site Tubefilter, using data from analytics firm OpenSlate?, the kid-friendly Minecraft channel Stampy was the third largest channel in the world , with 189.6 million views in September.

p>Popular channels with a heavy or complete Minecraft focus were also popular in September, such as Vegetta (8th in the world with 164 million views in September) as well as The Diamond Minecart (10th spot with 161.8 million views).).

p>Mojang has been assisting its YouTube community since the start of Minecraft. They avoid copyright disputes with video creators and are non-judgmental towards the content of their videos.

We've basically outsourced YouTube videos to a community of millions of people, and the content they create is far more inventive than anything we could ever create by ourselves."

p>YouTube is a significant part of the reason why Minecraft is such a popular, well-loved gaming brand in 2014 - and it's also a notable reason behind Microsoft's decision to buy Mojang for $2.5bn this summer.
