p>Tate Gallery teams up with Minecraft By Dougal Shaw Technology reporter

/p>

p>The Tate Gallery is going to display some of its most celebrated works in 3D form, in the virtual world of the computer game Minecraft. What is the best method for art to be appreciated?

/p>

p>Ever fancied stepping inside a painting, and then taking a look around it?

/p>

p>The Tate is inviting people to clamber over its artworks and have a good rummage.

/p>

p>There won't be any security guards on duty.

/p>

p>The first artwork to receive this digital, 3D transformation was Andre Derain∏s 1906 painting The Pool of London and Christopher Nevinson's painting of New York City, Soul of the Soulless City (1920).

/p>

p>Jane Burton, Tate Media's Creative Director says that visitors will be able to see a white cube that is a representation of the Tate Gallery.

/p>

p>"You enter the room with the painting in front of you.

/p>

p>"What you can do now is take a walk towards the painting and then plunge into it. That's where the adventure starts."

/p>

p>Enter the art

/p>

p>Visitors will be able to interact with the world of the painting.

/p>

p>To get a glimpse of Nevinson's cityscape from the train, ride it. Stop for a bite to eat with the builders while they break from building tall buildings.

/p>

p>Visitors must be wary of pirates in the Thames when visiting Derain's work and experiment with mixing explosive paint pigments.

/p>

p>"You will explore various challenges and activities that connect to the themes of art.

/p>

p>"It's art, history, and adventure," says Jane Burton, whose children introduced her to the power of Minecraft.

/p>

p>The idea to display in Minecraft was originally conceived by artist Adam Clarke, who is an established creator in the Minecraft community.

/p>

p>He suggested the idea for Tate's IK Prize. This prize is given to an idea that uses digital technology to encourage people in the arts.

/p>

p>Tate utilized the skills of other famous Minecraft builders, including Featherblade, Featherblade, Dragnoz and Featherblade to create the worlds inspired by the famous images.

/p>

p>However, not everyone is convinced.

/p>

p>Perspective

/p>

p>These Minecraft creations will give younger viewers a better understanding of artworks in order to allow them to view original works in galleries. Rachel Campbell-Johnston, Times art critic, says it's like "seeing an old friend".

/p>

p>This feeling of recognition, "like seeing celebrities" is a powerful instrument to inspire art appreciation and encourage audiences. https://puckettpost18.livejournal.com/profile </p>

p>She continues, "But ironically the Minecraft works themselves offer an even more pleasant experience."

/p>

p>"It is more of an entertainment than a creative connection to the painting, as 3D mapping in Minecraft replaces the real painting's illusionistic surface by doing the work for me."

/p>

p>Digital opening

/p>

p>You can download the two works of Derain and Nevinson on Monday.

/p>

p>Players pay a fee to join the Minecraft community, however the maps available for download of Tate's photos are free.

/p>

p>Six more 3D masterpieces are on the way. Many will be watching closely to see how many people queue to attend Tate's Minecraft exhibition on Monday.
