p>Microsoft has confirmed that Mojang and Minecraft will join its ranks, but it'll continue to offer the game across iOS, Android and PlayStation? as well as on Xbox and PC, the company announced today. Microsoft claims that they began their conversation around bringing the title to the Xbox console after which they saw their huge success and decided to acquire the game to "diversify its game collection."

/p>

p>Founders Markus "Notch" Persson, Carl Manneh and Jakbok Porser quit the company following the acquisition that the team announced. Mojang's official site has also confirmed the previously reported purchase price of $2.5 billion. In their post the Mojang community team says that Notch was hesitant to control the world's most powerful company, and would prefer to work on smaller projects. The sale was done to allow Minecraft to continue growing while allowing the original team to pursue other interests.

/p>

p>Mojang makes no assurances about the specific future plans that are in store for Minecraft however, it says that for now it should be operating as usual. Microsoft says it "respect[sMinecraft's name and its independent spirit" and will continue with projects such as MINECON the annual convention which focuses on the game started by Mojang in 2010.

/p>

p>The reaction of the community to this news is likely to be mixed. Minecraft fans who have been playing the game since it was first introduced are likely to distrust the new owners. However, the logic behind the purchase is sound. At the very least we'll be able to determine whether Notch can repeat, and the next generation's Lego similar game.

/p>

p>Here's Notch's thoughts on the deal and his thoughts on leaving the company he founded on his blog, which was in the process of crashing at the time of writing. :

/p>

p>I'm leaving Mojang

/p>

p>It was quite a while back that I decided to end Minecraft development. Jens was the perfect person to lead it and I was looking for new things. While I tried to make it big initially, it was a failure. However I've decided to stick with small prototypes, interesting challenges, and I've had so much fun doing my work, it's been a lot easier. Although I wasn't sure where I fit into Mojang, where the majority of people work, people told me I was essential to the culture, and I decided to stay.

/p>

p>I was home with a cold a couple of weeks ago, when the internet exploded with hate against me over some sort of EULA situation that I had nothing to do with. have anything to do with. I was confused. I didn't understand. I tweeted this out of frustration. Later I watched the This is Phil Fish video on YouTube and realized I did not have the connection with my fans I believed I had. I've become an image. I do not want to be a symbol accountable for something that I am unable to comprehend, that I do not want to tackle, that constantly comes back to me. I'm not an entrepreneur. I'm not a CEO. I'm a geeky computer programmer who loves sharing my thoughts on Twitter. https://bagauc.com/ </p>

p>When the deal is completed, I will be leaving Mojang to return to web experiments and Ludum Dares. If I ever accidentally make something that seems to gain traction, I'll probably abandon it right away.

/p>

p>In light of the fact that the public image of me is already a bit disorganized, I don't anticipate to get away from negative comments through this however, at least for now I won't have a need to read them.

/p>

p>This is contrary to my public statements. I don't have a good answer to that. I also know that many of you have used me as a symbol of the perceived struggle. I'm not. I'm a person and I'm right there with you.

/p>

p>I love you. Every one of you. I am thankful for having made Minecraft what it is today. But there are too many of us and I can't be held accountable for something like this. In one sense, it belongs to Microsoft today. It's been a part your lives for a long time, and will continue to be yours.

/p>

p>It's not about money. It's about my sanity.
