The Beano's Dennis, Gnasher and Walter join Minecraft By Emily Thomas Newsbeat reporter

Minecraft players need to watch out for "softy" Walter and his stinky pants.

You can now add Walter, Dennis, the Menace, and Gnasher from The Beano to the PC version of the game.

Gnasher can be transformed into an ointment by players and all of Dennis' pranks, such as catapults and stink bombs, can be used.

It's part of the Beano's bigger plans to expand into digital, and its game has been born from a partnership between the animated series and Frima Studios, a Canadian multiplatform game developer.

Mark Cotton, who is responsible for digital transformations at Beano, told Newsbeat that Minecraft is "their most fervent passion and their most passionate love"

Mark says that the game is an "extension" of The Beano comic and an attempt to make The Beano "a more overall experience" for kids.

He states that 32,000 comics are sold each week of the Beano which is an acceptable number. https://huliypin.com/

But it's far fewer than the two million copies sold at the height of the magazine's popularity.

Mark says, "We are very conscious that today's kids have a passion about digital."

"We must create The Beano a 360 brand that is where Dennis and Gnasher are everywhere the kids are, rather than waiting for them to visit our store.

"So we're currently working on a variety of initiatives over the next three to six months."

There are puzzle apps, interactive comics, and an "action 3-D game for kids".

The Beano's publisher DC Thompson has already extended the brand to a TV show, a photo sharing app and YouTube channel.

Grand Theft Auto?

The comic's been around since 1938 and has a lot of adult fans. It's possible that the Beano characters appear in any adult games - Dennis the Menace in Grand Theft Auto perhaps?

"No. Mark says, "No.

"We're focusing on the 7 to 11-year-old digital product - for the moment, digital is about engaging with children and knowing their interests."

They've been working with 10 Minecraft and Beano fans aged 7-11 during the development process.

Minnie the Minx

"We basically asked kids"If you could put Beano into Minecraft, what do you think you would see?

"This was the beginning of what they envisioned. Obviously their imaginations are much greater than we can possibly do at the moment.

"But they wanted Pranks, they wanted Walter They wanted Gnasher They wanted to dress up as Dennis, and that's what we've offered them.

"We'll continue to talk to them. We'd like to expand this and build Beanotown so that children can be creative.

"Minecraft is so well-known because it gives children the power. We can't force the children to do something, and they'd resent it.

Are there any other characters you could be allowed in?

Mark says, "We certainly want to extend it."

"The obvious character and the one the kids have been asking for is Minnie the Minx so that's what we'd likely look at next."
