<p>Minecraft player's 35-hour gaming marathon Zoe Kleinman Technology reporter, BBC News </p> <p>12 October 2015 </p> <p>A British man hopes to break the world record for the longest-running game of Minecraft. </p> <p>Joe Kelly, of Cheltenham, played the game for 35 hours 35 minutes and 35 seconds, raising PS1,800 for cancer research. </p> <p>Martin Fornleitner, Austria, set the current record of 24 hours and 10 minutes in the year 2011. </p> <p>Minecraft involves building structures made of blocks, exploring the world and taking part in battles. </p> <p>The book has sold more than 54 million copies around the world. </p> <p>Microsoft purchased Mojang the studio behind it for $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) in the year 2000. </p> <p>Mr. Kelly, who owns an entertainment company and is a voice actor has played the game since it was released in 2010. He usually plays just a few hours each week. </p> <p>He stated to BBC that he could stay awake without caffeine and it wasn't too difficult. </p> <p>"There were no stimulants other than sugar and stubbornness." </p> <p>Mr Kelly, who live streamed the entire game via YouTube said that the incident had taken its toll on his hands. </p> <p>"My shoulders didn't hurt my back wasn't hurting but the most difficult thing was my fingers. </p> <p>"They are so painful just by holding the mouse and keyboard and clenching them for so long. </p> <p>"Every tiny break I took I was moving my fingers." </p> <p>Mr. Kelly and Sarah Vallance, his girlfriend are working on sending evidence to Guinness World Records. </p> <p>However, he is not thinking to take a break from the game. </p> <p>"I introduced my girlfriend to Minecraft We usually play together," he said. </p> <p>" It's something we like to do together.
