<p>Minecraft player's 35-hour gaming marathon Zoe Kleinman Technology reporter, BBC News </p> <p>12 October 2015 </p> <p>A British man is hoping he can beat the world record of Minecraft's longest-running game. </p> <p>Joe Kelly from Cheltenham played the game for 35 hours, 35 minutes and 35 seconds and raised PS1,800 for cancer research. </p> <p>The current record, 24 hours, 10 minutes was set by Martin Fornleitner in Austria in 2011. </p> <p>Minecraft is about building structures out of blocks, exploring the world and engaging in battles. </p> <p>The title has been sold in excess of 54 million copies around the world. https://gslist.net/minecraft-servers/ </p> <p>Last year, Microsoft bought Mojang, the studio behind it, for $2.5bn (PS1.5bn). </p> <p>Mr. Kelly who owns a film company and is a voice actor has been playing the game since it came out in 2010. He usually plays for just a few hours each week. </p> <p>"Staying awake wasn't that bad - I did the whole thing without any caffeine," he told the BBC. </p> <p>"There there were no stimulants other than for sugar and stubbornness." </p> <p>Mr. Kelly who live streamed the entire game via YouTube said that the incident took its toll on his hands. </p> <p>"My shoulders didn't ache and my back didn't hurt The most painful thing was my fingers. </p> <p>"They suffer so much by holding the mouse and keyboard and clenching them for this long. </p> <p>"Every little break I got I was moving my fingers." </p> <p>Mr Kelly and Sarah Vallance, his girlfriend are currently working on submitting evidence to Guinness World Records. </p> <p>He has no plans to take a break from the game. </p> <p>"I introduced my girlfriend to Minecraft, we usually play together," he said. </p> <p>" It's a thing we like to do together.
